Turn Minecraft Play into Programming Skills

Build

Plan and build individual projects, then bring familiar algorithms to life with Code Builder.

Code

Students build a foundation in algorithms and computational thinking before applying their ideas through block coding.

Think

Develop critical computational thinking, logic, and debugging habits through trial and error.

Syllabus Breakdown

Eight 60-minute lessons over 4 weeks, with two sessions each week. Students develop algorithmic thinking, then apply it through hands-on coding, testing, and debugging.

WEEK 1

Break It Down: Plans & Precise Instructions

  • Break a larger build into manageable steps and plan the process
  • Explore how clear instructions shape an in-game agent’s actions
Plan and complete an individual build using clear steps
WEEK 2

Patterns, Loops & If–Else Rules

  • Explore patterns and repetition through a guided build
  • Use conditional rules to shape a maze or challenge
  • Develop algorithmic thinking before moving into block coding
Create a patterned build and apply a simple decision rule
WEEK 3

Integrated Challenge & First Block Code

  • Apply loops and conditions to plan a practical build challenge
  • Begin translating a familiar idea into block-based code
Connect planning strategies with a first block-coding activity
WEEK 4

Debugging & Mini Project

  • Practice reading, testing, and improving code
  • Design and refine a project that combines course concepts
Present a finished project and reflect on the process
Each session includes individual sharing, with a final showcase for parents.

How the Pilot Works

1. Apply

Fill the form below. We’ll confirm availability and send a short tech-check checklist.

2. Test & Onboard

Before the programme begins, every student completes a short home-device check to confirm their setup is ready.

3. Learn & Build

Two 60-minute sessions each week for 4 weeks, with individual builds in a shared world and a teaching assistant at every session.

WHY MINECRAFT?

Learn through building

Minecraft Education gives students a playful setting for problem-solving and creative thinking. Each child works on an individual plot in a shared world, making screen time structured, purposeful, and visible.

An instructor and teaching assistant are present every session, so no child is left waiting for help.

Minecraft vs Minecraft Education

Same world. Different mission.

🎮 Minecraft

For play, creativity & freedom

  • Build, explore, survive
  • Join big public servers
  • Use mods & custom maps
  • Redstone & command blocks
  • Great for pure fun & creativity

🏫 Minecraft Education

For learning, coding & safe classrooms

  • Chemistry & science tools
  • Code Builder (blocks, JS, Python)
  • 600+ ready lessons
  • Safe, invite-only worlds
  • Camera, portfolio & classroom controls

“It still feels like Minecraft… but with extra powers for school.”

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For Parents

  • Turns screen time into curriculum time
  • Teaches coding, chemistry, and critical thinking
  • Safer, controlled multiplayer (up to 30 students)
  • Standards-aligned lessons across STEM, history & more
  • Built-in accessibility (Immersive Reader, etc.)

Want to know if the programme is right for your child? Ask us.

My child already uses Minecraft at school. Why join WhileLoop?

Some schools in Malaysia use Minecraft Education as a great introduction to coding and problem-solving. WhileLoop complements that exposure with more focused time and individual support.

Typical school Minecraft lessons

Group sizeUsually larger class groups
SupportUsually one teacher for the class
Pace and focusUsually short or weekly sessions with set activities
ProgressProgress is usually shown through completed class activities

WhileLoop pilot Pilot

Group sizeUp to 6 students
SupportAn instructor and a teaching assistant in every session
Pace and focusEach student builds independently on their own plot in a shared world
ProgressIndividual builds and a short showcase each session

Good to know

Separate login needed: students join through WhileLoop's Minecraft Education tenant. School-issued accounts can't enter this shared world, so your child will get a separate login for the pilot.

Recordings: sessions may be recorded for teacher reflection. Child faces and identity are concealed, parents will be informed beforehand, and can opt out.

School gives exposure. WhileLoop gives depth, visible progress, and structure.
